Sandra Marie Givens-Grandison, affectionately known as “Peter” and/or “Sandy” 70, entered eternal rest on August 12, 2021. She was born on March 22, 1951, in Norfolk, VA to the late Doland Givens and Dorothy Boone.
Sandra was educated in the Norfolk and Chesapeake public school systems and eventually graduated from George Washington Carver HS. Sandra worked over 35 years within the Healthcare System, starting at Children’s Hospital of the King’s Daughters, later Sentara Norfolk General Hospital and ultimately retiring from Portsmouth Naval Hospital.
Sandra was a very loving and generous mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, niece, neighbor, friend, and co-worker. Sandra loved the Lord and was a loyal woman of faith. First and foremost, she cherished her family and family gatherings during the holidays. Furthermore, Sandra loved shopping, dancing, cooking, baking, and last but not least reading the Bible. She was a member of New Hope Congregational Christian Church.
Sandra was predeceased by her former husband Ronnie S. Grandison, parents, Doland Givens and Dorothy Boone, brother Michael Corner, sister Jeanette Givens and her favorite aunt Viola “Sweetie” Wilson.
She leaves to treasure her memories, her children Quince D. Givens, Anthony O. Story, Curtis W. Givens, Latasha O. Brown, Tomeka R. Givens, and Janay W. Newby. Grandchildren, Quince D. Harrington (Janae), Curtis W. Newby, Naieem D. McNeal, and Trevor S. Givens-Virgo; sisters, Sheila Givens, Janeen Givens; and a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives, neighbors, co-workers, and friends.
